Maggie Grace was born Margaret Grace Denig in September 21, 1983. She is an American actress best known for her role as Shannon Rutherford in ABC TV series Lost. Originating from Worthington Ohio, she left high school to move to Los Angeles with her mother following her divorce from her parents. In the midst of financial hardship, she got her first part as the title character in the web-based video show Rachel's Room in 2001. After earning a Young Artist Award in 2002 for her portrayal as Murder In Greenwich of a 15-year aged Martha Moxley as a murder victim, she went on to take home the award. Grace Rutherford, the character she played in Lost between 2004 and 2005, was nominated for an Screen Actors Guild Award. Grace was keen to pursue film following her role as Tom Welling's character, The Fog, in 2005. The actress has also appeared as Kim Mills in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club as well in 2007 as well as in Taken alongside Liam Neeson in 2008 as Kim Mills. She's the daughter of Stephen Gyllenhaal (director) and Naomi Achs (producer), as well as more senior than Jake Gyllenhaal. She also played a musician in Frank (2014) as well as her role as the main character for the lead role in The Kindergarten Teacher, a drama that was released in the year of 2018. Gyllenhaal wrote and directed her debut film The Lost Daughter in 2021. The psychological drama won Best Screenplay Award from the Venice International Film Festival. It was also nominated to be awarded the Academy Award of Best Adapted Screenplay.
